Leadership

Lead the design.
Build the capability.

I set product vision, frame research around the decisions it must inform and develop the capabilities teams need to deliver. Advanced AI workflows are part of that responsibility: I build them, demonstrate their value and teach teams how to adopt them.

Direction people can use.
Capability that lasts.

At Dongfeng, I set experience principles, structured the Hunan University research partnership and introduced an adopted AI production workflow. At Fisker and GM, I connected design, software and engineering around product decisions. My approach combines a clear quality bar with methods that help teams make decisions and carry the work forward.

Ground the vision in research.
Build the team’s capability.

Scope. As an International Expert, I set design vision and principles and provided creative, strategic and educational leadership to 43 colleagues across Wuhan and Shanghai, including Dongfeng/Huawei vehicle programs.

Decision. I structured the Hunan University partnership, framed the product questions and connected researchers with design teams. The study combined 1.78M+ user records with 30 in-depth interviews with family users across 11 cities, using fieldwork and LLM-assisted synthesis. I also built and taught an MCP-orchestrated AI production workflow that the teams adopted.

Delivery. Research informed opportunity areas and design principles, narrowing 375 ideas into 100 innovation cards and four flagship concepts validated through VR and sound prototypes. The adopted concept-video workflow accelerated production 10–20× and gave teams more directions to explore.

Resolve the dependencies.
Carry the experience through.

Scope. As Director of UX, I led and expanded a UX organization of more than 40 people within the Human Experience department through the Ocean launch.

Decision. I connected UX/UI, interior design, software, engineering and infotainment around the customer journey. Prototypes, testing and reviews helped resolve display behavior, information hierarchy and physical-control decisions while keeping the wider experience coherent.

Delivery. Ocean cockpit work sits alongside the brand, website and mobile experience. PEAR is shown separately as interface exploration, making the distinction between product delivery and concept development clear.

Keep the experience
and the platform connected.

Scope. As Design Group Manager, my primary UX/UI responsibilities covered GMC, Buick and Chevrolet.

Decision. I brought UX/UI, software and engineering into discussions around obscuration, chip performance and operating-system capabilities. Prototypes and testing made the trade-offs concrete, helping the teams find alternatives that preserved driver needs and brand priorities.

Delivery. The resulting direction carried into vehicle-program interfaces and functions across the three brands. The portfolio also includes supporting contributions to the Cadillac team.

Develop judgment.
Prepare the team for what comes next.

At Dongfeng, I developed a structured mentoring program across UX/UI, research, motion and Agile delivery, later extending it into applied AI. I planned the teaching around the capabilities colleagues needed in their project work, connecting design principles with practical demonstrations and discussion.

The aim was to help people assess alternatives, explain their decisions and develop shared ways of working. Building that foundation also prepared the team to evaluate new tools and incorporate them into its practice.

  • UX/UI. User-experience principles, shape, color, contrast and balance.
  • Research. Research methodologies, case studies and heuristic evaluation.
  • Motion. Motion graphics templates, storyboarding, video and sound.
  • Agile delivery. User stories, sprint planning and Kanban.
  • Applied AI. Model fundamentals, reusable templates and image, video and audio workflows.
Teaching at Dongfeng: developing design capability through practical sessions and live demonstrations.

10–20× faster production.
A workflow the team adopted.

I connected AI models with production tools through MCP, then taught the workflow through live demonstrations. Concept-video production moved from a multidisciplinary team working through sequential handoffs over 2–4 weeks to one designer running the full workflow in one day. Teams adopted and implemented the method, with confidentiality rules and expert review of craft and correctness. The measured 10–20× acceleration applies to that workflow; timing varies with the brief, reviews and finishing requirements.
